Today and tomorrow will be warmer days in the mid-to-upper 80s. Some spots in Northern Arkansas may even be flirting with 90° again! Skies will also become increasingly cloudy today through Wednesday. While it’ll be cloudy at times, rain isn’t expected until Thursday, when a storm and cold front sweep through the area.
Hurricane Polo in the Pacific made landfall on Monday night as an estimated Category 2 hurricane with winds around 100 mph. Polo has weakened significantly this morning, but the moisture surrounding it is making its way into the Desert Southwest.
The tropical Pacific moisture left over from Polo will join forces with a storm system and cold front over New Mexico. This combination will lead to widespread heavy rain from New Mexico and Texas through Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.
In the Ozarks, we can expect rain to begin on Thursday and end through the day on Friday. Rainfall amounts will be weighted to the west, but a good 1″ is possible area-wide all said and done.
A cold front will sweep through the Ozarks on Thursday night, and temperatures will turn cool Friday through the weekend. Temperatures will be in the low 70s during the day and in the upper 50s Friday and Saturday night.
Skies clear away Sunday night, and temperatures may reach their lowest levels since earlier this spring in the low 50s to upper 40s on Monday morning. Next week begins with several nice days in the 70s and cool nights in the 50s…
