Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks defeated the Portland State Vikings 84-0 on Friday, a score reminiscent of the Chip Kelly-Marcus Mariota era. Star quarterback Dante Moore only played for a half, still putting up 280 yards on 19-of-23 passing and four touchdowns.
Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola shined as well, completing all 11 of his passes for 124 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore running back Jordon Davison carried the ball 13 times for a game-high 81 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, while freshman wide receiver Messiah Hampton ended with game highs in receptions (six) and receiving touchdowns (two).
The victory was a rebound for Lanning and his Ducks after suffering a disastrous 39-31 loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday, Sept. 12. The 84-point differential is the largest of the Lanning era in Eugene. The point differential wasn’t the only record set by the head coach in the win, as it was announced following the game that the 40-year-old set another career record in the game.
