Stow council considering asking voters to give mayor, top officials 20% raises now, automatic raises in future

STOW, Ohio — Legislation that would ask Stow voters whether to hand out significant pay raises to the city’s mayor, law director, and finance director appears headed for revision after City Council members raised concerns about automatic cost-of-living increases during discussion last week.

Under the proposal, Mayor John Pribonic, Law Director Drew Reilly and Finance Director Kelly Toppin would each receive annual salaries of $100,000 beginning Jan. 2, 2028.

Cleveland.com previously reported that all three elected officials make around $80,000 annually. The ordinance would increase the mayor’s salary by 24%, and the law director’s and finance director’s salaries by 23%…
