City Speaks Out, Apologizes After Teen Mistakenly Placed in Cuffs

CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – Two city leaders have addressed the mistaken-identity handcuffing of a 14-year-old boy on Monday, with Public Safety Director Andrea Perry issuing an apology to the child and his family.

Perry says in the city-issued statement that the interaction between the police officers and the youngster was “unacceptable”, saying officers should conduct themselves in a courteous and professional manner.

Mayor Bill Sherer in the same statement says city residents deserve to be treated “with dignity and respect”, saying that any negative interaction compromises the positive relationships the department has built up in the city…
