HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police announced that Major Brian T. Ferrone has been appointed as the next commander of Troop K. Ferrone will oversee State Police functions throughout Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester Counties.

Major Ferrone started his NYSP career with Troop K in Wappinger back in 2005. He returns to the Hudson Valley area after serving in an array of operational and leadership positions, including his most recent assignment as commander of Troop T.
Ferrone is set to become Troop K’s 40th commander. He follows incumbent commander Major Daniel Smith, who took over the role in December 2025.
