Albany stabbing under investigation, victim charged with arson

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Albany Police Department is searching for a suspect in an early Wednesday morning stabbing on Madison Avenue. Police said the victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement was notified by staff at Albany Medical Center around 1:45 a.m. about a man who entered the emergency room with stab wounds to his head and hand. An investigation determined that the stabbing happened on Madison Avenue near Delaware Avenue, authorities reported.

Detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit, who were working on the investigation, also identified the stabbing victim as the suspect in another crime where a Lark Street planter was ablaze on June 29 at 4:55 a.m. Kenneth Beverly of Albany is facing a charge of fifth-degree arson and is scheduled to appear in Albany City Criminal Court for a later date.
