ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany man has been charged after allegedly choking a woman in front of her child. The Albany Police Department responded to a residence on North Pearl Street near North Second Street at about 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Albany Police, officers responded after receiving reports of a person with a weapon. When they arrived, officers learned that 34-year-old Akeem Butts was involved in a domestic incident with a woman prior to police arriving.

During this incident, Butts allegedly choked the woman in front of her child. As a result, Butts was charged with one count of criminal obstruction of breathing, one count of second-degree harassment and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
