COHOES, NY (WRGB) — Cohoes has become the second police department in Albany County to join a statewide initiative aimed at strengthening how law enforcement responds to domestic violence cases, following the 2025 death of Amanda Rodriguez, who was killed by her boyfriend.
The effort is part of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence initiative, known as STRIVE. Ashley Hart, assistant program director at Unity House Domestic and Sexual Violence Services, said the program is designed to bring key agencies together earlier to prevent cases from escalating.
“It’s bringing all the right people to the table to have conversations about these cases and try and stop them before they end up like the case in Cohoes,” Hart said…
