ALBANY — The estate of a former Montgomery County legislator who was killed in a small plane crash last year in Rhode Island is suing the 88-year-old pilot and the Albany flying club that rented him the aircraft.
Daniel Wilson, a 77-year-old retired construction manager and former member of the Montgomery County Legislature, died from his injuries sustained in the crash 13 months ago at an airport on Block Island, R.I.
The ill-fated flight began when Wilson, the pilot Karl Doll and another passenger departed Albany International Airport just before 11 a.m. on July 30, 2025, in a single-engine Piper Cherokee aircraft destined for the Block Island State Airport.
