Dolly Parton, iconic songwriter, singer and actor, has died at 80.
In light of Parton’s death, we are pulling a review of her 2004 concert at the then-Pepsi Arena (now the MVP Arena) in Albany. Michael Eck noted Parton was “dead set on pleasing everyone in the crowd.”
It was not Parton’s only local show. In 1977, she and Mac Davis performed multiple shows in July at the Colonie Coliseum Summer Theater. That season was bookended by Bob Hope opening the season, and ended with Angela Lansbury in “Gypsy.”
“Parton a real pleaser for fans at the Pepsi.”
