SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The 267 students that typically go to Keane Elementary School have been moved to the Fulton School building for the school year as construction for a capital project begins on the traditional building.
Keane Elementary School Principal Kerri Messler said in an interview with NEWS10’s Bianca Caputo that the project is needed for accessibility, and taking better advantage of the property after it was purchased by the Schenectady City School District in 2023.

“The hope is that we can not only accommodate additional families at the school that we rebuild, but then also make it accessible to all people,” said Messler. “It was a prime real estate for us to add additional classrooms and upgrade the Keane Elementary School building.”
All students of the school are now being bused to Fulton School, where at the Keane building about half of students didn’t use provided school transportation.
