ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) — The Albany Common Council is beginning its review of Mayor Dorcey Applyrs’ proposed 2027 city budget, with several major financial decisions facing the city in the coming weeks.
Applyrs has proposed a $355.2 million budget that includes a 15% increase in the property tax levy, which is expected to generate nearly $9.7 million in additional revenue. The plan also calls for a 0.5% city-only sales tax, along with staffing and operational cuts.
