Saratoga County, NY (WRGB) — A Saratoga County grand jury has indicted a Moreau man accused of trying to kill his 77-year-old mother during a violent attack that investigators say stemmed from an attempted intervention in an internet financial scam.
Saratoga County District Attorney Brett Eby announced the indictment against Aaron Gookin. Gookin is charged with attempted murder in the second degree, a Class B violent felony, as well as attempted assault in the first degree, strangulation in the second degree, two counts of assault in the second degree and other misdemeanor offenses.
The indictment says that on Feb. 18, 2026, in the Town of Moreau, Gookin attempted to intentionally cause the death of his mother. Prosecutors says he strangled her and hit her in the head with a piece of wood, causing serious physical injuries.
