BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After almost 18 years, a Ballston Spa deli has new owners. Russell’s Deli, located at 303 Milton Avenue, reopened under new ownership on April 20.

Previous owner Russell Shapiro made the announcement in a Facebook post on April 12 that new owners were taking over the deli. Shapiro’s last day open as owner was April 16. In July 2023, Shapiro told NEWS10 that the deli was for sale as he and his wife, Judy, were looking to slow down.
“Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of our lives,” said the Shapiros. “What started as a small deli grew into something so much bigger – because of all of you! Your smiles, your stories, your daily visits and your support turned our small town shop into a true gathering place.”

In a Facebook post, the new owners pledged to mainly keep everything the same, with the addition of a few things, including barbecue as the new chef owns Barbakoas Woodfired Local Food. NEWS10 reached out to the new owners, but has not heard back.
Russell’s Deli serves breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, deli sandwiches, and salads. As of April 27, the deli’s hours are Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m…
