Fire company announces plans to shut down after 70 years

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (WRGB) β€” A fire company in the Capital Region has announced plans to shut down after 70 years.

The Schuyler Heights Fire Company blames ongoing conflicts with the Schuyler Heights Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners and says those conflicts have made it impossible to continue operating.

β€œIt is the result of sustained and escalating circumstances that have rendered the Fire Company unable to effectively operate, govern itself, or fulfill its mission to protect life and property within the community,” the fire company said in a statement…
