Child hospitalized, two teens charged after Mechanicville playground injury

MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Mechanicville Police arrested two teens after an incident at the Park Avenue playground on April 30. The minors, whose names weren’t released due to their ages, were charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a class D felony.

Police responded to the area around 5:45 p.m. on Thursday following up on reports of an injury at the playground. Detectives determined that a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old allegedly used an electric motorcycle to spin a piece of playground equipment at a high speed, reportedly causing a 12-year-old to be thrown from the apparatus.

Emergency personnel arriving to the vicinity conducted life-saving measures on the victim before transporting the child to Albany Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. Mechanicville PD stated that a good Samaritan also assisted the child at the scene…
