LOUDONVILLE, NY (WRGB) — A Georgia man is behind bars on multiple felony weapons charges after an incident at Siena University Friday night.
At approximately 11:08 p.m. the Colonie Police Department responded to Siena University to check for a suspicious vehicle. It was reported that an unauthorized vehicle had been on campus and that an occupant of that vehicle had displayed a rifle. Responding police officers were able to quickly verify that the vehicle was no longer on campus. Witness interviews established that a rifle was observed, but had not been displayed in a threatening or menacing manner. At no point during this incident was any threat made to any Siena student, or to the Siena University campus in general, according to Colonie Police.
Colonie Police Officers coordinated their efforts with Siena University Public Safety personnel. They observed the vehicle in question on video and identified it in short order. Based on information gathered during the initial phase of this investigation, officers believed the three occupants of the vehicle in question were from out of state and began a systematic search of all area hotels and motels for the vehicle.
