Held every year in May, the remembrance ceremony honors the memory and sacrifice of police officers from across New York State who have died in the line of duty. The ceremony is held at the Police Officers Memorial, a 22-panel wall engraved with the names of over 1,900 police officers, at Empire State Plaza.

This year’s event will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Church, followed by a procession through the streets of Albany to the plaza. The procession is scheduled to begin at at 12 p.m. and last for 30 minutes, according to the Albany Police Department.

56 officers will be honored at this year’s ceremony, including Christopher Filli from the Hudson City Police Department and Bernard Roberts from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
