Albany police honor fallen officers at memorial mass on

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Police Memorial Day events in Albany honored officers who died in the line of duty and recognized families still carrying those losses.

Gov. Kathy Hochul spoke at the memorial and issued a proclamation declaring May 5 as Police Memorial Day. Albany police also hosted a memorial Mass Monday morning for fallen law enforcement officers from across New York.

Recent local line-of-duty deaths include Hudson Police Department Sgt. Christopher Filli, who suffered a fatal heart attack after responding to a 911 call for a possible overdose in 2024. The events also recognized officers from other agencies who died while serving…
