Fonda woman accused of stealing over $50K from CNY nonprofit

FONDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Fonda woman is facing a grand larceny charge after being accused of stealing over $50,000 from the nonprofit Girls on the Run (GOTR) Central New York. The investigation began after the organization contacted the New York State Comptroller’s Office and New York State Police.

Nicole Weigel, 44, was the council director for GOTR from March 2023 until October 2025. She managed the financials of the organization as part of her job and is accused of misappropriating funds for her personal use.

The comptroller’s office said that from early 2023 through September 2025, Weigel withdrew thousands from ATMs and used the GOTR debit card for personal purchases, including car rentals, hotels, Broadway shows, a mountain bike, and kayaks. She’s also accused of using GOTR funds to see a show, attend a performance at the Sphere, and eat at several restaurants while on an approved trip to Las Vegas…
