ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — For many Capital Region families, a trip to Tulip Fest at Washington Park has been part of their Mother’s Day tradition. On Sunday afternoon, some local moms were honored in a very special way at the “Capital Region Best Mom Ceremony”.

After speeches from their nominators, Iteashia Turner was crowned the 2026 Best Mom after being nominated by her daughter, Amadi.
Iteashia spoke about taking the title of motherhood with pride, “God chose me to be the mom and to be as great of a mom as possible. And I wear that with a badge of honor.”
“Whether it’s a day when I’m tired, and I don’t feel like doing something, I’m still going to get up and pursue and make sure that I, you know, give back to my family and to my community.” said Iteashia.

Amadi talked about why she nominated her mom, saying, “I’m proud of her perseverance and her strength to push through the tough things that happen in life and continue to be the great person she is.” Amadi continued, speaking of her favorite memories with her mother, “Taking those long car rides and listening to R&B was so special to me because growing up, we didn’t really have much. We were very fortunate just to have the family and the love and support.”…
