Watervliet shooting confirmed to be gang-related

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (WRGB) — The investigation into Tuesday’s First Avenue has revealed new information. The Watervliet Police Department told CBS6’s Anthony Krolikowski that the incident is gang-related.

Video originally shared by Sidewinder Photography on Facebook that has since been taken down showed the male victim enter a vehicle parked outside his Watervliet home. Moments later an SUV drove by on First Avenue and a passenger fired a gun. Officials described the gun as an AK-style rifle.

“We believe this was an isolated, targeted incident that took place, stemming from gang violence. The victim’s been highly uncooperative,” described Public Information Officer Eric Roy. “The person was in serious but stable condition, transported to the hospital for multiple gunshot wounds. Not sure of his status at this point. He may have been released by now.”…
