TROY — Kravin Hot Chicken, previously announced under the name Smack n’ Chick, opens next week at the corner of Hoosick and 15th streets.
The menu offers Nashville-style spicy fried chicken as well as halal platters and gyros. Similar halal fare — served with rice, salad and chicken, lamb, fish or falafel — is already available in Troy and prevalent in Albany, and Nashville-style hot chicken is well represented, including by the Dave’s Hot Chicken chain, with five Capital Region and Hudson Valley locations opening since late 2022.
Nashville-style hot chicken is deep-fried and coated with a cayenne-based sauce. Kravin offers it in three heat levels, or with lemon-pepper seasoning, as sliders or tenders, served with coleslaw and pickles. It is also available over fries or macaroni and cheese.
