ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The first meeting didn’t end the way both fighters envisioned. Holly Holm and WBA lightweight champion Stephanie Han had their first fight cut short due to a cut on the forehead of Han brought on by an accidental headbutt one minute and 44 seconds into the seventh round.
“I don’t feel I was fighting to my full potential, but I was also frustrated with how the fight ended, which I’m sure she was too, said Holm. “You know, nobody wants it to end like that.”
Han won the fight as a technical unanimous decision to the surprise of Holm. “I also don’t think that the scorecards were super accurate, said Holm. “This is not me saying I was dominating the fight or anything, but I definitely don’t think that it was as lopsided as they had that. But it doesn’t matter. I needed to go in there and do better.”…
