Man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from Albuquerque stores

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The police are searching for a man accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry from stores across the metro area. Jesus Herrera is alleged to have robbed multiple jewelry stores and is no stranger to the law. Authorities report that there have been at least five incidents in which Herrera targeted different stores.

Herrera specifically targeted the JCPenney locations at both Cottonwood Mall and Coronado Center from 2024 into 2025, as well as a local jewelry store earlier this year. One video shows Herrera at the JCPenney in Cottonwood Mall in November 2024, where he is seen speaking with a clerk before grabbing an item and running away. He is accused of stealing a necklace valued at $19,000.

Another piece of surveillance video captured Herrera during a robbery in May of last year. In this instance, he is seen conversing with the clerk before reaching over and snatching two gold chains, costing nearly $12,000, directly from the employee’s hands…
