ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque will celebrate Route 66 turning 100 with Summerfest in Nob Hill, and a trolley tour highlighting the city’s 18-mile stretch of the historic road.
Central Avenue in Albuquerque has been part of Route 66 since 1937, when the road was realigned. Route 66 first ran north-south through Albuquerque, and the crossing at 4th and Central downtown is now the only place where Route 66 crosses itself.
