ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A new kind of growers’ market launched Saturday aimed at giving Native American producers based in the Pueblos a better platform to market their goods in the city. The new Indian Growers’ Market at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute requires vendors to be of indigenous descent and submit proof to register.

Vendors say they think this market will be different from the others, due to the location’s proximity to the Pueblos and the exclusivity to native people. Event organizers say they hope this gives farmers, producers, artisans, and other business owners in the pueblos a bigger opportunity.
“It’s always different at every other market,” Michael Garcia said with Digital Desert Customs. “But the native community is always an exciting community to be a part of.”
