ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man who built a massive solar structure on his property said the project has been a huge success. In 2022, KRQE News 13 reported on Stanley Harada who served as a Chief Hearing Officer with the City of Albuquerque before he retired. Harada has been interested in solar energy since the 1970s. In 2018, he decided to make his entire house run on solar energy.

He called it his battleship. It’s a massive structure of welded steel sitting on 10 concrete pillars which support 27 solar panels. Earlier this week, KRQE News 13 spoke with Harada on how his invention is performing. “You know, when you start seeing what it is that I really have, it’s kind of freaky because no one else in this town can show you what I have because it’s all electric,” said Harada.
