Albuquerque, New Mexico – Strong winds and extremely dry conditions are expected to increase wildfire danger across much of New Mexico through Friday, creating hazardous travel conditions and raising concerns about rapid fire spread across the eastern part of the state.

Forecasters say southwest winds will strengthen Thursday afternoon, producing gusts that could reach 40 to 50 mph in some locations, particularly across eastern and central New Mexico.
