APD: Man arrested in Old Town shooting had hatred toward homeless was looking for someone to kill

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – According to Albuquerque Police, an Albuquerque man told officers he left his home early Sunday morning with the intent to kill someone because of his hatred for the homeless community. 44-year old Arturo Jose Nallez was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting that killed a man around 1 a.m. Sunday in the area of Central Ave and Rio Grande Blvd near Old Town.

A ShotSpotter activation and several 911 calls reported that several shots had been fired in the area and when officers arrived they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UNMH where he later died from his injuries. Information on whether the victim was homeless or not was not released by APD.
