Albuquerque students compete in AI racecar challenge

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Students and teachers from 10 schools across the state gathered Saturday morning for a race with self-driving cars. The New Mexico Artificial Intelligence Academy hosted the state-wide race car challenge, where students had to prepare AI pilot cars to guide race cars along tracks created by their schools.

The event follows a 10-week-long program that taught the students problem-solving skills and the basics of robotics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. β€œAn event like this shows that New Mexican students are ready to start studying artificial intelligence and machine learning and robotics, and that skills they are developing today in our program are the same kind of skills that future jobs are going to be looking for,” said co-founder of the New Mexico AI Academy, George Gorospe…
