ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – On Saturday, people gathered to remember, support, and take action as part of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives Action Week. The Paint the Plaza Red event is a dual-city event put on by the Good Heart Medicine Tour and its partners.
Indigenous people honor and raise awareness for relatives who are missing or have been killed
On Saturday, Civic Plaza was filled with live music, food trucks, vendor booths, and lots of people wearing red to show their support for the victims and their families. “These events are so important when you’re a family member who has either been taken by violence or is missing. It can feel very lonely, and a lot of days, you wake up and wonder why you continue to do this work, but then there’s events like this where the city shows that they care,” says advocate Karen Watson.
