Two months ago, Laws pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. The father of one of the victims spoke to the judge about their loss. He read a letter in Arabic that was translated for the court. “We are an immigrant family who left our country because of wars, and come to the country of freedom, peace, and stability. We came to this country to save our lives and the lives of our children. I did not know there was a criminal who was waiting to kill his hope, that is my oldest son.”
Laws agreed to a 46-year sentence, as part of his plea agreement…
