ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A plot of land in the university-area of Albuquerque that sat vacant for years has a new lease on life as the result of a public-private partnership.
The vacant lot at 2404 Garfield Ave. SE has been transformed into the Garfield Townhomes and is now home to 16 two-story loft-style residential units. The property is located near The University of New Mexico, Central Avenue, transit lines, and local businesses.
“We don’t have to keep growing outward to solve the housing shortage,” said Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency Director Terry Brunner. “These homes help Albuquerque grow smarter by adding housing in existing neighborhoods close to jobs, transit, and schools.”…
