WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Mayor Muriel Bowser is pushing the DC council to fund pay raises for some union workers, including firefighters, in the upcoming 2027 fiscal year budget.
Funding for these raises was not included in the Mayor’s proposal, after D.C.’s Chief Financial Officer held back hundreds of millions of dollars because of the uncertainty over the District’s decoupling legislation.

But the CFO has now reversed those funds, allowing them to be included in the planning process.
