WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A U.S. Air Force helicopter made an emergency landing near the Georgetown Reservoir in Washington, D.C., on Monday night, according to a spokesperson for Joint Base Andrews.
Around 9:30 p.m. on July 13, the aircrew of the UH-1N helicopter, assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, landed after noticing vibrating mechanical sounds.
Crash on I-270 caused lane closures, delays in Montgomery County
All four crew members returned safely to Joint Base Andrews. There was no damage to the aircraft or property after the landing.
“Joint Base Andrews takes the safety of the aircrew and our surrounding community seriously,” according to a statement from the base. “The maintenance crew will assess the aircraft at the site this morning to investigate the cause of the vibrations.”…
