New traffic route on MD 4 takes effect in Prince George’s County: What to know

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Officials are warning drivers to use caution as a new traffic route is now in effect along MD 4 in Prince George’s County.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) announced that the new traffic pattern began on Aug. 17 along MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) at Suitland Parkway. The new pattern is expected to remain in place for about two years.

What will change?

The new traffic shift is part of the next construction phase for the Suitland Parkway Interchange Project. Officials noted that the pattern will consist of two lanes in both directions, while maintaining dual left-turn lanes on MD 4 North to Suitland Parkway.
