Man convicted of carrying shotgun onto Metrobus while trying to avoid fare

WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. man who pleaded guilty of having a loaded shotgun on a Metrobus after trying to evade fare will spend nearly two years in federal prison, according to the US Attorney’s Office for D.C. on Monday.

Officials said Gerald Evans, 30, will spend 21 months behind bars after authorities found a 12-gauge shotgun in his coat while on a Metro bus in December 2024. Evans pleaded guilty on Jan. 13 to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.
