Honor Flight takes off from Bismarck

BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — On Saturday morning, more than 100 veterans took a flight to the nation’s capital.

Honor flights is a national program that organizes trips for veterans to travel to the nation’s capital to see memorials built in their honor. Western North Dakota Honor Flights took off on its ninth flight Sunday morning with over 100 veterans and a team of volunteers heading to Washington, D.C.

The organization has now taken more than 1000 local veterans on the trip, and for many, it serves as a welcome home they never received.

“Our mission is to take veterans from across western North Dakota to Washington D.C. to see memorials built in their honor,” said Western North Dakota Honor Flights President Patience Mosbrucker. “These are heroes who deserve that recognition.”…
