(DC Bureau) – A 15,000-square-foot museum will open this summer underneath the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The new exhibit space aims to enhance the visitor experience by detailing Abraham Lincoln’s life and the memorial’s history for the first time, and is set to open in time for the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.
The underground museum, along with a larger bookstore, new restrooms and an updated elevator, totals approximately $69 million in costs. Philanthropist David Rubenstein contributed an $18.5 million gift in 2016 to support the project…
