Flight instructor sentenced to years in prison for plane crash that killed student pilot in Lehigh County

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A New Jersey flight instructor was sentenced Thursday to years in prison for a 2022 Lehigh County plane crash that killed his student pilot.

United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that Philip McPherson II, 37, of Riverside, New Jersey, is facing six and a half years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, a $5,000 fine, $4,300 special assessment, and $19,530 in restitution for involuntary manslaughter and additional offenses, according to a news release.
