Alpharetta police propose new city charges

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Alpharetta Police Department says the creation of more than a dozen municipal-level criminal charges would allow it to administer justice more efficiently and effectively.

During a special March 23 Alpharetta City Council meeting, Police Chief Trent Lindgren proposed adding 16 new crimes and revising three others to the municipal code. The new charges include a variety of low-level crimes such as vandalism, aggressive panhandling, public urination and trespassing.
