Deputies with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office responded to Veterans State Park on April 26, 2026, after receiving reports of a large physical altercation.DNR officials working the park and lake responded, and upon the arrival of deputies, the crowd was dispersing. Law enforcement began gathering information from witnesses and those involved. The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a confrontation among multiple individuals that escalated into a physical fight.During the altercation, one person was reportedly struck in the face, and another sustained minor injuries while attempting to intervene. Authorities also discovered that a firearm had been retrieved from a vehicle during the incident. However, no threats were made, and the weapon was not pointed at anyone.Three individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Crisp County Jail.
