Man tried to attack puppies with metal pole, then fatally shot their owner 2 months later

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (WKRC) – An elderly man was sentenced to life in prison after he murdered his neighbor to end an argument regarding the victim’s puppies. The argument started when the suspect tried to attack the puppies with a metal pole.

According to courtroom reporting from local outlet WSB, 75-year-old Stanley Elliot was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, and gun possession on May 7 in connection to the 2021 murder of 44-year-old Anthony Collins.

Elliot and Collins’ disagreement reportedly started months before the fatal shooting, when Collins was walking his Jack Russel puppies around the neighborhood in December 2020. Witnesses testified that Elliot attempted to beat the puppies with a metal rod, which he had been known to use against stray dogs in the past…
