Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home hosts Memorial Day ceremony Monday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home announced it will host a Memorial Day Commemoration Ceremony on Monday, including a War Birds flyover, music, and a guest speaker.

Officials with Ussery-Roan TSVH said the event will be held at its location at 1020 Tascosa Rd. on Monday, beginning with a War Birds flyover at 11:50 a.m. At 12 p.m. the ceremony will continue with others involved, including:

  • Master of Ceremonies Mikel McGuire, United States Army Veteran;
  • The Caprock Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard;
  • Emcee Mikel McGuire, United States Army veteran;
  • Soloist Caleb Aguirre;
  • Dr. William Joseph Takacs of West Texas A&M University; and
  • Randy Willmon, United States Army, Retired.

The ceremony will include Willmon reading the Ussery-Roan Roll Call for the Fallen, according to organizers. Members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will also be in attendance.

Organizers further noted the guest speaker for the event will be Sgt. Rylan Dove, United States Army veteran, Amarillo native and Caprock High School graduate. Dove was deployed to Afghanistan with the 6-6 CAV, 10th Mountain Division during Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and is currently a full member of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 23-18.
