City of Amarillo celebrates America’s 250th birthday with free fireworks, drone show

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department announced the return of the city’s Fourth of July-themed event in collaboration with Outdoor Amarillo.

According to city officials, the “Amarillo Red, White, & Boom” event will commemorate 250 years of America. Officials noted that the event begins at 5 p.m. on July 4 at John Stiff Park and will continue throughout the evening with fireworks and a drone show.

City officials noted that the event is free to the public and free parking will be available off 45th Street. A free shuttle will also be available from Randall High School, Amarillo High School, or the Amarillo Civic Center north parking lot.

Festivities for the event include:

  • Concerts: Performers include Stealing Handshakes and The Droptines.
  • Beer garden: Relax with a beverage – must be 21 or older to enter.
  • Food trucks: A diverse selection of local food trucks, chosen by the public
  • Fun zone for kids: Children can enjoy the dedicated fun zone, complete with games and activities.
  • Sand volleyball tournament: 4-person teams, $50 per team. Limited space. Register online.
  • Fireworks and drone show: A breathtaking display of fireworks and cutting-edge drone technology will light up the night, commemorating the spirit of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
