AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A man facing charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping in Potter County was sentenced to more than seven years in prison on Thursday in relation to a separate federal charge, after he pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry after deportation in November 2025.
According to court documents, Carlos Vidana-Najera was sentenced in Amarillo Federal Court on Thursday to 87 months in prison, or about seven years and three months, as well as two years of supervised release. The sentencing comes after he entered a plea agreement on a charge of “Illegal Re-Entry After Deportation” in November 2025, for which he was rearraigned in December 2025.
The court record shows Vidana-Najera had a change of attorney after the first filed plea agreement. In April 2026, Vidana-Najera filed a new plea agreement. The April 2026 agreement was for the same illegal re-entry charge, but certain changes were made in the body of the document, including the listed penalties changing from a maximum of 20 years in prison to a maximum of 10 years…
