APD: Charges dropped in homicide case as police seek more info, 2nd shooter

The Amarillo Police Department gave an update on a homicide investigation Friday in connection to last weekend’s deadly shooting, noting all current charges in the case have been dropped as a second suspect and more information is sought.

“As this investigation progresses, the APD Homicide Unit continues to gather evidence including witness statements, video, digital downloads, and ballistic evidence,” APD said in the Friday afternoon update. “Due to newly developed evidence and information, it was discovered that there will be a second shooter involved in the Avondale homicide from earlier this week.”

Dylan Black, who was arrested Sunday, Sept. 1, remains a suspect in the incident, according to police, but the decision has been made to drop current charges until further information and evidence has been reviewed.

The APD Homicide Unit is requesting that anyone with information about this incident to contact the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit or Amarillo Crime Stoppers.
