Amarillo PD warning residents of new scam

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department is warning residents of a “wrong number” scam.

According to APD, the scammers sends a seemingly friendly text aiming for the receiver to tell them they have the “wrong number.” Officials said the scammer then tries to build trust until then asking for money.
