Lone Star Ballet announces retirement of longtime executive director, incoming successor

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Lone Star Ballet held a press conference on Tuesday morning to give community members an update on the future of the organization, and to announce the retirement of Executive Director Craig Henderson.

The LSB website described Henderson as a graduate of West Texas A&M University with years of business consulting work in numerous fields, including agriculture, oil and gas, construction, retail, food service, and non-profits. He has held seats on State and National Committees for National Cattleman’s Beef Association and Texas Cattle Feeder’s Association, regional committees for Boys and Girls Club of America, and community boards and committees such as the Amarillo Traffic Commission.

As described by representatives of LSB, Henderson has served for 25 years as the organization’s executive director. During his tenure, he was instrumental in items including:

  • Establishing the LSB studios and office complex;
  • Establishing seven LSB satellite studios across the Texas Panhandle;
  • Nurturing financial stability and success; and
  • Establishing the performance of three LSB productions per year, including the largest production of “The Nutcracker” between Dallas and Denver.

LSB representatives announce during the conference that Henderson will be succeeded by longtime LSB Guild President Audrey Wallace.
